Debbie Rangousis
Can you talk a little bit about yourself and your background?
My name is Debbie Rangousis, I live in South Africa and have a BCompt (Accounting Sciences) from UNISA. I have a number of years’ experience in finance and business valuations consultancy.
What prompted you to pursue an online MBA? Specifically, why was online appealing to you?
The online MBA really appealed to me because of the flexibility it offers. I am able to study when I like, and where I like. I’m also able to go back and review the lectures at any point, and I’m able to delve deeper into a topic through the guided supplementary materials provided, all in the comfort of my own home.
What has the experience been like? Was it what you thought it would be like and has it met your expectations?
Studying at Aston has far exceeded my expectations. The support has been amazing, I’ve never felt alone in the dark with no help on hand. The online library is easy to use and has extensive resources, as well as friendly support staff who are always happy to lend a hand.
The lecturers have been engaging, incredibly knowledgeable and very approachable and helpful. My tutor has also been wonderful, and been very happy to guide me or put me in touch with the right people when it came to selecting my optional modules, and discussing my dissertation ideas. It’s been a tremendously positive experience for me.
If you were giving someone who was considering an online course advice, what would it be?
Choose your educator very wisely. Make sure they are appropriately recognised, and offer a lot of support. Be sure that you have enough time in your day to dedicate to your studies, as well as a super-supportive family who encourage your study efforts and help out wherever possible.
Would you recommend the Aston programme and if so what aspects of the course do you find appealing?
Absolutely! I’ve loved how current and global the material is. There is also a diverse range of modules to choose from as your elective modules so that you can tailor make your MBA and specialise in an areas that really appeals to you, if that’s the direction you chose to take.
Students are able to interact with each other from all corners of the globe, which really gives you the opportunity to expand your professional network.
It’s a wonderful programme, and I'm loving every second.
